A BETTER CITY CHURCH
Our Beliefs
Our faith is rooted in God’s Word and centred on Jesus Christ.
01The Scriptures
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, without error in the original manuscripts, and fully trustworthy. It is our supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:19–21; Psalm 19:7–1102God
We believe in one eternal, all-powerful, holy, and loving God who exists eternally in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:1403God the Father
God the Father rules with providence over His creation. He is full of wisdom, love, and justice and relates to believers as a perfect Father.
Matthew 6:9; John 3:16; Ephesians 4:604God the Son – Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as our substitute, rose bodily on the third day, ascended into heaven, and will return in glory to judge and reign.
John 1:1–14; Philippians 2:5–11; 1 Corinthians 15:3–405God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates, indwells, and empowers believers to live holy lives. He gives spiritual gifts to believers for the building up of the body of Christ.
John 14:26; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:4–1106Humanity
Human beings were created in the image of God but fell into sin by choice and became separated from Him. Only through God's grace in Christ can we be restored.
Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1–507Salvation
Salvation is by grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ. It includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. It is a gift from God and cannot be earned by works.
Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 5:1; Titus 3:508The Church
The church is the body of Christ, made up of all born-again believers. Its mission is to glorify God, proclaim the gospel, disciple believers, and serve the world in love.
Matthew 28:18–20; Ephesians 1:22–23; Acts 2:42–4709Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
We believe baptism by immersion is a public expression of faith in Christ. The Lord’s Supper is a remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice and a declaration of our hope in His return.
Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4; 1 Corinthians 11:23–2610The Lord’s Day
Sunday, the first day of the week, is the Lord’s Day, when believers gather to worship, pray, study the Word, and fellowship as the church.
Acts 20:7; Revelation 1:10; Hebrews 10:2511The Kingdom of God
The Kingdom of God is His sovereign rule in the hearts of believers and throughout creation. It will be fully revealed when Christ returns to establish His eternal reign.
Matthew 6:10; Mark 1:15; Revelation 11:1512The Family
We believe God designed the family as the union of one man and one woman in marriage. Marriage is a sacred covenant that reflects Christ’s relationship with the Church.
Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:22–33; Matthew 19:4–613The Future
Christ will return in glory. The dead will be raised—believers to eternal life and the lost to eternal separation from God.
